lillie maplesLillie Belle Burrow “Tootsie” Maples, 78, New Hope, passed away Friday, July 29.

She was preceded in death by her husband Alton Ray Maples, father, James H. Burrow, mother Grace Webster Burrow, brothers Bobby Burrow and Jimmy Burrow.

Surviving are son, Lowell (Tina) Maples, daughter Teresa (Joe) Hunkapiller, grandson, Jason (Randa) Maples, granddaughter Heather Maples & fiance Richard Franklin, great­grandson Kade Maples and great- granddaughter Allie Mae Maples, sister Semmone Burrow, brother Malcolm Burrow and brother Harry Burrow.

Visitation will be Saturday, July 30 from 2-5pm at New Hope Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 5 :00 pm.

Interment will be at Kennamer Cemetery.

Chris Lee, 36, of Huntsville, passed away Saturday.

He was preceded in death by grandfather, John Lee, and uncle, Joey Simmons.

Surviving are father, John Lee, Sr., mother, Teri Simmons, daughter, Milah Lee, daughter, Brooklyne Lee, son, Elijah Lee, fiancée, Melinda Bulger, brother, Corey Nunn, sister, Courtney Clark, grandmother, Jean Lee, grandmother, Marie Simmons, step-son, Michael Garcia, step-daughter, Eve Boyett, uncle, Marty Perryman and aunts, Kathy Clark, Vicki Thompson, Debbie Cooper and Sherry Valdetero.

Visitation will be Thursday 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at New Hope Funeral Home. Services will be held at New Hope Funeral Home Chapel, Friday at 3:00 PM.

Interment will be in the Whitaker Cemetery.

Sidney L. White

sidney whiteDecember 31, 1931 – July 23, 2016

Sidney L. White, 84, of Gurley, passed away Saturday.

Sidney was a U.S. Army SSG veteran of the Korean Conflict. He retired from U.S. Army Missile Command and has served as the Region 1 representative for the Alabama Association of Volunteer Fire Departments. He also was a founding member of the Keel Mountain Volunteer Fire Department and served as President and Officer during his more than 30 year association with the fire service.
He was preceded in death by father, Cecil Leon White, mother, Myrtie Lee Hayle White, brothers, Kenneth White, William Q. White, and J.C. White and sister, Dorice Jean Golna.
Surviving are wife, Elaine White, sons, Sidney Keith White, Kevin Bruce White, Kerry Neal White, and Kendall Lynn White, grandchildren, Jennifer Leigh White King, Laura Ashton White, Brittany Allison White Wallace, and Brady Garrett White, great grandchildren, Sydney Lee-Ann Wooten, Zoey Addison Monk, Camden Shane Baldwin, and Parker LaRand Wallace, and several nieces & nephews.
Visitation will be Tuesday 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at New Hope Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at Gurley Cemetery, at 1:00 pm.

William H. Cooper

William H. Cooper, 81, of New Hope, passed away Tuesday.

He was preceded in death by father, Willie Cooper, mother, Janie Cooper, sister, Lois Mason, and brother, Bobby Cooper.

Surviving are wife, Kathleen Cooper, son, Darrel (Kathy) Cooper, son, Anthony Cooper, 2 grandchildren, Scott Norris and Patrick Cooper, 2 great grandchildren, brother, Ray Cooper, sister, Doris Moore, brother, Charles W. Cooper, brother, Donnie Cooper, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Thursday 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at New Hope Funeral Home. Services will follow at 11:00 AM at New Hope Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dewayne Martin officiating.

Interment will be in the Hayden Cemetery.

Nina Sue Burleson, 90, of Owens Cross Roads, passed away Monday.

She was preceded in death by husband, James Bennett “J.B.” Burleson, father, Dan C. Drake, Sr., mother, Mattie Virginia Hill Drake, sisters, Louise Alverson, Hazel Drake, and Dimple Brockway, and brother, Allen Drake.

Surviving are brother, Dan C. Drake, Jr., son, Benny (Sissy) Burleson, granddaughter, Kerry (Chris) Lewter, grandson, Marc (Sara) Burleson, great grandson, Conner Lewter, and great granddaughters, Allison Burleson and Annie Lewter.

Visitation will be Thursday 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Owens Cross Roads Church of Christ. Service will follow Thursday at 6:00 PM at Owens Cross Roads Church of Christ.

Interment will be in the Hayden Cemetery.

He was a member of the Free Holiness Church for over 50 years. Floyd was retired from Coca-Cola.

He was preceded in death by wife, Mary V. Key, father, Emmett Key, mother, Ida White, step father, Gordon White and son, Floyd Wayne Key.

Surviving are son, Philip W. (Renae) Key, son, Bennie L. (Miranda) Key, daughter-in-law, Sharon O’quinn, grandchildren, Karla (Ronnie) Dickey, Shanna (Myles) Barr, Katie (Jake) Shrider, Kevin (Sarah) Key, Eric (Courtney) Key, and Connor Key, great grandchildren, Drew and Janie Dickey, Adalynn and Huntley Key, brother, Lloyd Key, brother, Charlie White, and several nieces & nephews.

Visitation will be Friday 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at New Hope Funeral Home. Services will be held at New Hope Funeral Home Chapel, Saturday at 1:00 pm with Bro. Kenneth Cooper and Philip Key officiating.

Interment will be in the Brown Cemetery.

She was preceded in death by father, Ernest Hillis, mother, Georgia Hillis, one sister, Essie Sanderson, four brothers, Fred Lee Hillis, Bobby Hillis, Nelton Hillis, Ed Hillis and Eugene Hillis.

Surviving are son, Jimmy Winkles, daughter, Georgia (Chris) McGaha, two grandsons, Kevin Winkles and Jessie McGaha, two granddaughters, Ashley McGaha and Angela McGaha, two great granddaughters, two great grandsons, two sisters, Sara Stafford and Mary (David) Craft, two brothers, Ronald Hillis and Clyde (Clovie) Hillis, and several nieces & nephews.

Visitation will be Saturday 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at New Hope Funeral Home. Services will be held at New Hope Funeral Home Chapel, Sunday at 12:00 pm with Jeff Slaughter officiating.

Interment will be in the Cochran Cemetery.
