Debbie D. Pruitt, 52, of Owens Cross Roads, passed away Wednesday.

She was preceded in death by father, James Erskine Meeks, mother, Nancy Lewis Meeks, and brother, Thomas Earl Meeks.

Surviving are husband, Joe Pruitt, son, Jason (Lauren) Bartlett, son, James Bartlett, son, Donald (Susan) Pruitt, grandson, Cayden Bartlett, and granddaughter, Jasmine Pruitt.

Visitation will be Friday 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at New Hope Funeral Home. Services will be held at New Hope Funeral Home Chapel, Saturday at 1:00 pm with Rev. James Harrell officiating.

Interment will be in the Collier Cemetery.

Gladys Dalton

Gladys Dalton , 88, of Owens Cross Roads, passed away Monday.

She was preceded in death by husband, Willie T. “Bill” Dalton, father, Grady Tabor, mother, Mary Hill Tabor, daughter, Patsy Dalton Mason.

Surviving are granddaughter, LeAnn Humphrey, great grandchild, Jessica Humphrey, great grandchild, Michelle Humphrey, great grandchild, Michael Humphrey, great grandchild, Nathan Humphrey.

Visitation will be Wednesday 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at New Hope Funeral Home. Services will be held at New Hope Funeral Home Chapel, Thursday at 2:00 PM with Mike Johnson officiating.

Interment will be in the Moon Cemetery.

Dock Leon Bearden

Mr. Bearden passed away Saturday, Dec. 6, 2016, at a nursing home in Pensacola, Fla., near his daughter.  He was 80.

Visitation will be Tuesday, February 9th, 6 – 8 pm at New Hope Funeral home. The funeral will be Wednesday, February 10th, at 1:00 pm at the Hebron Church of Christ.

Dock grew up in the Hebron community, the son of Dock Bearden and Margie Lucille Hodge Bearden and one of 4 brothers. Three of the brothers, including him, married sisters.

He, along with 2 of his brothers and a family friend, formed a county music band in the 1970s. The Country Gents became well known in north Alabama.

When Mr. Bearden and his wife first married, they settled near the Guntersville Dam and farmed. He later worked as a welder and transmission mechanic.

An amateur radio operator, he loved to “tinker” and taught himself to break down and repair radios, his family said.

He moved his family to New Hope in 1978.

Mr. Bearden is survived by 2 daughters, Donna Colvard (Keith) and Patricia Walling; a son, Mike Bearden (Melinda); 3 grandchildren, Michael Austin Bearden, Cassandra Lynn Bearden and Justin Coy Walling; and 3 brothers, Delbert Calvin Bearden Sr. (Annette), Kenneth Wayne Bearden and Donald Ray “Bill” Bearden (Jo Ann).

He was preceded in death by wife, Roberta Bearden; a daughter, Carolyn Jean Bearden; and pet Bitty-Bit.

Officiating at the service will be Bro. Bobby Starnes and Bro. Mark Hastings

Mr. Bearden will be buried in the Walker Cemetery with New Hope Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers will be Calvin Bearden, Donald Ray Bearden Jr., Brandon Batey, Matthew Batey, Jonathan Batey, Curtis Bridges Jr., Justin Walling and Austin Bearden

Seldon Lee Harp

February 19, 1954 – February 2, 2016

Seldon Lee Harp, 61, died Tuesday at his home in New Hope. Born Feb. 19, 1954 in Huntsville, Alabama, he grew up in New Hope and graduated from New Hope High School in 1972. He then attended Alabama A&M University as part of a work/study program with NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center, focusing on accounting. He worked at NASA/MSFC until retiring in 2008.

He is survived by his aunt, Carolyn Harp of Trussville, and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mayme Harp. No services are planned.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of New Hope or a charity of your choice.

Iva Turner Lemley

December 19, 1938 – January 31, 2016

Iva Turner Lemley, 77, of Owens Cross Roads, passed away Sunday.

She was preceded in death by mother, Emma Bailey Turner, father, Virgil Turner, brother, Marvin Turner.

Surviving are daughter, Beth Dolan, son, Mike (Kevin Layne) Stewart, son, Jason Stewart, friend, Doyle Lemley, 6 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren,.

Visitation will be Tuesday 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at New Hope Funeral Home. Services will be held at New Hope Funeral Home Chapel, Wednesday at 2:00 PM with Rev. Cody Gilliam officiating.
