Virginia Moore, 87, left this world Monday, October 5, 2015
Virginia was born in 1927 to Allen and Clara Moon in Owens Cross Roads, Alabama. She owned and operated the Pat-a-Cake Bakery on Cave Spring Road. She baked custom-sculptured cakes and catered weddings for over 40 years. Her unique, great-tasting cakes were famous throughout north Alabama.
Virginia loved her children and grandchildren dearly and brought them great joy as the matriarch of her family. She was a godly and wise lady who faithfully followed the Lord Jesus Christ and supported her church. She selflessly invested her life in helping others and in sharing her faith. She had an incredible work ethic and tenacity of spirit, and she was talented in both painting and singing.
Virginia is survived by her daughter: Linda Pelfrey, her son and daughter in law: Dwayne and Sonia Moore, four grandchildren: Cindy and Allen Maples, and Stephen and Justin Moore, a great grandchild: Haley Maples, and Neil Casson, whom she loved like a son. She also had a host of “adopted” kids and grandkids whom she helped over the years.
