John Daniel Stapler

John Daniel Stapler, 85, of New Hope, passed away Tuesday surrounded by his children.

Brother John was born in Madison County, Alabama. During childhood his family moved to Arkansas to farm and later moved to Fairhope, Alabama for a short time. The remainder of his life he lived in New Hope where he and Mae raised their eight children. He retired in 1992 from the Madison County Commission as a Foreman. In 1985 Brother John founded the New Hope Holiness Church where he Pastored for 30 years until his death. Brother John’s work as a minister touched many people and his teachings will remain with us even though he is gone. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by father, Joseph Norman Stapler, mother, Dora Lee Stapler, spouses, Mae Webb Stapler, and Myrtie Stapler, daughter, Susan Stapler, son, Roger Dale Stapler, brothers, Grady Stapler, and Norman Stapler, and sister, Sarah Bell Lemmond.

Surviving are three sons, Richard (Diann) Stapler, Danny (Joyce) Stapler, and Carl Stapler, four daughters, Cynthia (Tom) Edmondson, Jeanette (Don) Hornbuckle, Debra (John) Ehrenreiter, and Patsy (Bethel) Hill, 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, brother, Marshall (Mary Jane) Stapler, and several nieces & nephews.

Visitation will be Thursday 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Friday 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at New Hope Holiness Church. Services will be held at New Hope Holiness Church, Friday at 2:00 pm with Bro. Roy Walls, Bro. Edward Atchley, and Bro. Keith Click officiating.

Interment will be in the Hayden Cemetery.

  1. I will never forget Sept 15, 1985, thats a bitter sweet day. Br. John was there with me the day the Lord came into my life. That was when the church was dedicated to the Lord. He truely did bless. Br John stood in the alter and cried with joy.Now he is gone but his words of wisdom and kindness are still here. I pray for the Lord to comfort the family .

  3. One of the sweetest men! Time can pull us away from so many family members and things But, I have many childhood memories time will never take from me ! A very good man and a great man of God that guided many to take the right path. R.I.P as I know you are flying in heaven now with your wings!
