James R. “Buba” Spivey

James R. “Buba” Spivey , 79, of New Hope, passed away Friday.

He was preceded in death by father, James Robert Spivey, mother, Modena Word Spivey, and brother, Benny E. Spivey.

Surviving are wife, Doris Pritchett Spivey, daughter, Sheila Spivey (Robert) Grimes, daughter, Shirley Spivey (Ritchie) Whorton, daughter, Sherri Spivey (Rick) Madden, granddaughter, Elizabeth Grimes (Jarren) Webb, granddaughter, McKenna Whorton, granddaughter, Kylee Whorton, granddaughter, Sarah Grimes, grandson, Brett Madden, grandson, Bryant Madden, brother, Robert W. “Bobby” (Merlene) Spivey, sister, Jane Spivey (Tom) Elders, brother, John L. (Sheila) Spivey, eleven nieces and nephews, and eighteen great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Saturday 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at New Hope Funeral Home. Services will be held at New Hope Funeral Home Chapel, Sunday at 2:00 pm.

Interment will be in the Hayden Cemetery.

  1. I am so sorry to her about the death of Buba. Doris, don’t know if you remember me or not but know that Jane should. The family is in my thoughts and prayers and I meant to come but it was just so soon after all the deaths in our family–Aunt Dorothy Barnett Friday. May God fill your void with his unconditional love and peace.
