James Douglas Cobb, Jr.

James Douglas Cobb, Jr., 84, of Owens Cross Roads, passed away Sunday.

He was a devoted father and grandfather. He retired from both Xerox Corporation and Gradwell Company Inc. where he worked as a service technician. He also was an ordained Presbyterian minister who pastored several churches including: Concord Presbyterian Church in New Market, Community Bible Church in Hazel Green, and Alder Springs Presbyterian Church in Albertville Alabama. He loved music and played the mandolin, fiddle, and guitar some and he used to play the mandolin regularly at the senior center. He was close to God and a very patient, loving, kind man.

He was preceded in death by father, James Douglas Cobb Sr., mother, Mary Cobb, brother, Carless Cobb, and sister, Edna Warren.

Surviving are son, Phillip Cobb, son, Timothy Cobb, sister, Elizabeth Steel, grandson, Dan Cobb, granddaughter, Christina Hannah, granddaughter, Holly Allen, granddaughter, September Shelley, 7 great grandchildren, and several nieces & nephews.

Visitation will be Wednesday 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at New Hope Funeral Home. Services will at 11:00 am in the Chapel.

Interment will be in the Drake Cemetery.

  2. I am very sorry to hear about the passing of your Dad and granddad. I have known JD for years. He was the one who usually came and worked on our Xerox machines on the Arsenal if we have problems. He knew my dad and we developed a friendship over time. A fine man.
