Mary Glennis Martin Smith

April 25, 1921 – January 17, 2012

Mary Glennis Martin Smith, 90, of New Hope, passed away Tuesday. She was a native of Madison County and was a member of the Owens Cross Roads Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by father, John Creadie Byrom, mother, Onra Mae Byrom, husband, Claude Martin, husband, Ed Smith, grandson, Billy Martin, Jr., sister, Elsie Kornell, brothers, Dennis Byrom, Cecil Byrom, Clinton Byron, John Credie Byrom, Jr., and Phillip Earl Byrom.

Surviving are son, James C. (Ann) Martin of Owens Cross Roads, son, Billy W. (Pat) Martin of Batesville, AR, daughter, Mary Ann (Edwin) Parks of Grant, son, Dennis A. (Jorene) Martin of Grant, 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, brother, Jerry Byrom of Huntsville, brother, Jackie Byrom of Huntsville, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Thursday 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at New Hope Funeral Home. Services will be held at New Hope Funeral Home Chapel, Friday at 2:00 pm with Bro. Harold Kelly, Bro. Steve Kelly, and Bro. Edwin Parks officiating.

Interment will be in the Valhalla Memory Gardens.

  2. Dennis, My heart goes out to you during this difficult time. It’s very hard to give parents up but we do not have any say in the matter of life and death. I so glad you had her all these years. Your memories of her will never fade.

  5. Dennis, Our Moms are very special and it’s so very hard to give them up. You and I both had to let them go last week but I feel we both were so blessed to have had our Moms longer than many of our classmates. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. May your precious memories be a source of healing and comfort.
