Doris Jean Williams

April 23, 1942 – July 8, 2010

Doris Jean Williams, 68, of Gurley, passed away Thursday.

She was preceded in death by father, Clarence Whitt Sr., mother, Lela Preston Whitt, husband, Billy Williams, sister, Jettie Sue Dunn.

Surviving are daughter, Nite Bell of Gurley, AL, grandson, Matt Bell of Gurley, AL, brother, Clarence Whitt Jr. of Owens Cross Roads, AL, brother, Bobby Whitt of Owens Cross Roads, AL, sister, Joyce Heatherly of Owens Cross Roads, AL, sister, Brenda Black of Grant, AL, sister, Linda McKee of Woodville, AL, sister, Glenda Jones of New Hope, AL, several neices & nephews.

Visitation will be Friday 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at New Hope Funeral Home. Services will be held at New Hope Funeral Home, Saturday at 11:00 AM with Bro.Allen Hughes officiating.

Interment will follow in the Huntsville Memorial Garden.

  1. I am so sorry to hear that Mrs. Williams passed away. I was married to her daughter, Nita, for almost 18 years. She was always so good to me! I really enjoyed going to her house and eating dinner. Between her, and her late husband Billy, I was stuffed after leaving their home. I miss that homemade macaroni and cheese!!
    I know how much Nita loved her mother. There was not a day that went by that they didnt at least talk on the phone.
    She was there for Nita and Matt when they really needed help. She would have been there for anyone!
    God bless her and her family. And to Nita and Matt; keep on keeping on…she would be mad if you didnt! 🙂

  2. Glenda, I am sorry to hear about your sister Doris. Just wanted you to know I’m thinking about you,and your family during this time. Sorry, I could not be there.
