Ernest L. Beard

November 8, 1926 – October 14, 2011

Ernest L. Beard , 84, of Owens Cross Roads, passed away Friday. Mr. Beard was a World War II Veteran, serving in the Navy on the USS Tucson.  While in the Navy he was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Medal, Two Bronze Stars, and the Victory Medal.

He was preceded in death by wife, Lillian Kent Beard, father, George C Beard, mother, Ida Beard, brother, Herman I. Beard, sister, Georgia Beard.

Surviving are daughter, Deborah (Obie) Childers of New Hope, grandchildren, Obie Childers Jr. of New Hope, and Melanie Childers of Tuscaloosa.

Visitation will be Sunday 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at New Hope Funeral Home with the Funeral service following at 2:00 pm with Bro. Wayne Kimbrough officiating.

Interment will be in the Byrd Cemetery.

    So sorry for your loss, I so enjoyed seeing your dad, Deb, & all the beautiful woodwork restoration he did for me& my family. My prayers are with you & yours.
